La ferme/ The Farm

(See English below)

Welcome to Les Jardins Glenelm, a certified organic micro-farm in Elgin. We’re proud to feed more than 70 families families on less than one acre for 5 years running.

We believe that small is beautiful – our farm is tiny by modern standards, a single acre on which we produce an enormous amount of food. We blend traditional methods with modern technology without ever using synthetic inputs…

We carefully select varieties that are well adapted to our climate and rich clay soil, while producing full-grown vegetables with a more concentrated taste:  Mini-sweet peppers, patipan zucchinis, baby mesclun greens, baby eggplants,  lebanese cucumbers and heirloom tomatoes that simply blow grocery-store tomatoes away for colour and flavour.

Were able to focus on quality and taste in part because our farm is small. So we can give our vegetables the attention they need in order to become those perfect purple, orange, red or striped tomatoes with that insanely tasty, sweet/tart balance and complexity that makes you want to bite in to them like an apple.

We use absolutely no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides and are proud to be certified with Ecocert Canada. Our main growing tools at the farm include LOTS of compost and netting to protect our crops from insect damage. In our first year we planted 23 vegetable varieties – we now grow close to 40, plus the sub-varieties, as well as wine cap mushrooms and edible flower bouquets.

We mainly sell our awesome veggies though Equiterre’s weekly basket program, which, if you want a healthier food system is the best way to support for local farmers doing everything they can to make it happen.

Want super fresh vegetables all summer?  Click here!

Delivery locations are the lovely farmers’ markets in Valleyfield, and Huntingdon.

We also sell to local restaurants in the Huntingdon area.

Come check us out, and check out our facebook page for weekly updates, and visit our Youtube channel for a virtual tour of the farm

Cheers!
